PROLOGUE
Rathmalie’s tragic story of cheat and deceit which resulted in her untimely death at the hands of her fiance’, Priyankara, who ran over her in his car, was screened as the award-winning and Internationally acclaimed Sinhala film ‘Dadayama’ දඩයම (The Hunt) in 1985 in Sri Lanka (Directed by Wasantha Obeysekara).

Priyankara, meanwhile, has absconded the legal repercussions by concealing the murder of Rathmalie for 30 years and was residing in the UK under a false identity. After completing his education there, he now has come back to Sri Lanka as Keerthi Gajanayaka, a well-known President’s Counsel.

රත්මලි කැකූණාවල නම් ශිෂ්‍යාව ව්‍යාජ ලෙස රවටා පසුව අමානුෂික ලෙස ඝාතනය කල ප්‍රියංකර ජයනාත් අතරවු ඛේදවාචික වෟත්තාන්තය, වසන්ත ඔඛේසේකර ශූරීන් විසින් 1985 දී ‘දඩයම’ ලෙස තිරගත කලත්, රත්මලි ඇතුලූ කැකූලාවල පවුලට වු මෙම අමිහිරි අවසානය, ශ්‍රී ලංකීක ජනතාවටනම් තවමත් අමතක කලනොහැක. එපමණක්ද නොව, ‘දඩයම’ අවසානයේදී පි්‍රයංකරට සිදූවුයේ කුමක්දැයි නොදන්න අප අදටත් ඔහු දඩයම ජයගත්තාද යන කුතුහලයෙන් ඇත.
රත්මලීගේ අභිරහස් මරණයෙන් පසු, ඇගේ අක්කාවන රෝහිණි, අවුරුද්දක් පමණැති රත්මලීගේ පුතාද (රවිනාත් කැකුලාවල- රැගෙන යුරෝපයටවි ජිවත්වනුයේ තම මව්බිමට නැවත ඒමට ඇති බිය සහ පිළිකුල් අතීතය නිසාය. රවිනාත්ගේ සැබෑ අතීතය ඔහුගෙන් වසන් කරන රෝහිණී, ඇගේම කුස උපන් දරුවා ලෙස රැකබලා ගනි.
එදා දඩයම ජයගත්තත්, නීතියටද වැලිගසා වසර තිස්ගණනක් ප්‍රියංකර ජයනාත් කෙහේදැයි කවුරුවත් නොදැන සිටියේ ඔහු ලංකාවෙන් අතුරුදහන්වී සිටි හෙයිනි. නමුත් මැතකදී ලංකාවට නැවත පැමිණ ඇති ඔහු, අද ජනාධිපති නිතීඥ කීර්ති ගජනායක ලෙස අලූත් මුහුනුවරකින් ප්‍රසිද්ධත්වයට පත්වි ඇත.
MOVIE – ‘ දඩ ඉම ’ (End of the Hunt)
In the background of these past events, three decades of silence is shattered as Ravinath, who is now a renowned pianist is invited to perform at a concert in Sri Lanka. During his stay, he has a fateful encounter with Keerthi Gajanayake. Ravinath not realizing Keerthi to be his father confronts him following a dream he sees, which is mixed with some past events of his mother’s brutal murder. When Rohini understands that Priyankara, aka Keerthi is still alive, she decides to join her ‘son’, with the aims of discovering the truth about her sister’s murder, and to hide the malevolent past from Ravinath.
‘Dada Ima’ දඩ ඉම (End of the Hunt), smoothly unfolds the secrets of the past and depicts that no one escapes punishment after committing a crime during his lifetime.
ප්‍රවීන පියානෝ වාදකයකු වන රවීනාත්, 2019 දී ශි්‍ර ලංකාවට ප්‍රථම වරට පැමිණෙන්නේ, නව මුහුණුවරකින් පැවැත්වෙන ප්‍රසංගයක, වාදනය කිරීමට ලද ආරාධනාවකටයග මව්සරණ පමණක් හිමි රවීනාත්ල තනිවම ලංකාවට ඒම සම්බන්ධව ඔහුගේ මව වන රෝහිණි කැකූණාවල අසතුටින් වුවද එකඟවන්නේ ඔහුගේ බලවත් ඉල්ලීමට අකැමැතිවිමට අපොහෝසත්වු හෙයිනිග.
එවැන් වකවානුවකදී ලංකාවට පැමිණෙන රවීනාත්ට, කවරකුවත් නොසිතන අයුරින් කීර්ති ගජනායකව මුනගැහෙන හෙයින්, තමාගේම තමා නොදත් අතීතය අනාවරනය වනුයේ දඩබිම නැවතත් සක්‍රීය කරමිනි. කිසිදූ දිනකවත් ලංකාවට නොඒමට තීරණකර සිටියත් රෝහිණිටද තම පුතු වෙනුවෙන් ඒමට සිදූවනුයේ පුතාගෙන් අතීතය සඟවා තැබිමට පමණක් නොව, ඇගේ අතීතයෙන්ද අයවිය යුතු දඩය ලබාගන්නා අටියෙනි.
එදා දඩයක්කාරියවු රත්මල’ දඩයම් වුවත් දඩබිමක් හැමදාම ඒකාකාර’ වේවීද? එදා ‘දඩයම’ ජයනාත් ජයගත්තත්, මෙවර කීර්තී රෝහිණ සමග කෙසේ දඩයම් වදීද? රවිනාත්ගේ දිග හැරෙන අතීතය, ඔහුගේ අනාගතයට කෙසේ බලපැමක් ඇතිකරයිද? කුමන තරාතිරමක අයෙක් කවර අපරාධයක් කලත්, දෛවය විසින්, ඊට දඩුවම් නොදි සිටියිද?
